Having problems with your 1995 Ford Taurus ?

My 1995 Taurus wont fire in the morning

\015 When i start the car in the mornings it turns over and even has small back fires but takes along time before it actually starts. After the car is running it will start no problem for the rest of the day until the next moring comes a long then its the same old thing. I was thinking its a clogged fuel filter. what do you think\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 15-08-2022

I fit was the fuel filter it would do it ll the time. Fuel filters are desinged to trap debris for 100,000 miles unless you get a load of bad fuel. I would ask an auto parts store if they can run a free scan of your engine computer to seee if it has fault codes stored.
\015\012 Try this test. When it is acting up, spray about a 2 second blast of starting fluid in the air cleaner near the throttle body or a the air cleaner if that's easier.. Reassmeble the air cleaner and start the car. If it starts right away, then you have a lean fuel problem. Maybe injectors getting varnish on them. You can try adding some Chevron injector & fuel system cleaner to the tank. (Kmart).
\015\012Another test is to turn the key to "on", then after a few seconds turn it to "off". If you listen carefully, you should hear the fuel pump buzz for a few seconds. Then wait 20 seconds for the power relay to shut off, and then turn key to "on" again. That will start the fuel pump again for 3 seconds.
\015\012What that does is to get the fule system pressure up to 40 psi so the injectors have good pressure at start up. If this works, it means your fuel pump's check valve is allowing preesure to bleed of when the engine is off or the fuel pressure regulator is bad. good luck.
I agree i would change the fuel filter first its the least exspensive and can only do the car good anyways
