Answers :

I just fixed mine, thanks to a post here at fixya. Either climb into the back or open the rear hatch window. There are 4 screws in the plastic just below the glass, take these out. Gently pry the plastic open enough to see inside. Using a flashlight try to see the area of the lock. There is an operating rod that rises vertically from the lock just on the driver's side of the lock mechanism. I couldn't get my arm in there to reach it so I used a long stiff wire with a hook on the end. Lift this rod and the door should open. I then took off the liner and soundprooffing to access the lock. The operating rod snaps into a metal clip, mine had come loose. I put it back together and then put a cable tie (zip tie) over it to keep it there. Lube it good while you're there and test it well before putting the plastic back on. Hope this helps.
My Jeep does the same. I found that if you press on the area about 3 inches below the release lever and then try to open it again. That usually works.
