Answers :

If the neutral safety switch, also refered to as the park/neutral switch were to burn out the vehicle would not be able to complete its starting circuit. The switch operates by only allowing a start signal to pass through it and to the starting motor if the vehicles shifter is in the park or neutral positions. the switch itself is located on the back side of the transmission should be close to the gear selector cable. hope this helps
The neutral safety switch, normally on the transmission prevents cranking and or starting the engine when it is in gear.. If it fails itthe engine will crank and start in any position or gear.Good luck, Ned
