1995 Pontiac Sunfire Shifter/Starting problem

\015 Woke up today, drove the car just fine, no problems. Started it in the afternoon, picked up my brother still no problems. Went to wal-mart and placed the car in park but the parking brake did not engage and it started to roll forward. So had to use the E-Brake to get the cark parked. Turned the car back on and noticed the shifter was moving freely without any tension at all. Got back home and again it would not remain in park even though the shifter was in park. Tried to turn the car back on for some other errands and now it won't turn on either. \012\012So, the shifter moves freely, the car won't remain in park, and now the car will not turn on. What could be the cause of all this?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-05-2019

Answers :

Sounds like your shift cable is worn out or coming apart. pop the hood and fallow the cable from the trans. to the shifter and look for a sign of wear.
Shift cable is bad or out of adjustment
& there may be a switch that has to be
in the correct position to start the car
