Having problems with your 1996 BMW 318 ?

Bmw 318ti over heating still

\015 Hi there recently i replaced my radiator because it over heated and cracked the rad. i also reaplaced the thermostat. ive flushed and flushed and bleed it a few tyms but it still overheats. the fan works occasionlly. And both houses get warm and are rock solid. but when i remove the rad. cap the cooling system works as it should doesnt over heat. can any one help? im all out of ideas now. p.s the thermostat is located on the side not the top and has a metal housing. and the expantion tank is directly next to the radiator.many thanks ben\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 03-08-2020

I agree water pump , but thermostat can go bad very fast some times they will have a defect when u buy them for that you can do a simple test ,,,put the thermostat in boiling water if it expands that means its working
