Having problems with your 1996 Chevrolet C1500 ?

Engine/drivetrain stumbles. 1996 350 vortec, 2WD, Auto w/OD, Positrack.Intermittantly stumbles, sometimes pretty violenty, when climbing a hill with and without cruise control on. Feels like tranny tried to shift and decided not to or like coil dies for 1/4 to 1/2 second. While driving with handheld code reader records misfires briefly but leaves no codes. Same while driving sith scanner reading tranny, no codes. One person suggested possible faulty coil pack but it looks good.Any suggestions?

Yes i acn understand your problem.
Don't panic, its very common with such heavy load engines. I recommend you to follow these steps :

1) Check alignment and tuning also. This is most basic thing which can cause it. But probably your problem is not this one.

2) By adjusting your EGC and configuring the service details you can avoid such stumbles at worst scenarios also.

3) Yeah, as you have described that NO codes are there... then most probably its all about sensor's malfunctioning & that is why Valve processing unit is not exhausting properly. So please, afford to replace your old O-sensors & Temp-sensor with new one. I hope surely you will get rid of your problem.
