1996 Chevy Cavalier (Transmission Problem)

\015 When the car is put into forward or reverse--the car dies\015\012out. When coming to a stop the car also dies out.\015\012\015\012I had a certified mechanic check the diagnostics and it showed that the vehicle\015\012does not need a tune up. He ascertained that the problem had to do with the\015\012transmission. He said that after researching the issue, a bulletin suggested\015\012that the transmission plug be taken out (even though not recommended) and that this might help the problem.\015\012\015\012\015\012\015\012Could it be something else\342\200\224vacuum, timing belt, etc.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-10-2020

Answers :

Is the lock up torque converter in the transmission "locked up" when it should not be.
Pull the electrical plug on the transmission to see if it is locked electrically.
If it feels like a standard transmission car and the engine chugs to a stop with the car when stopping.....that torque converter may be locked.
