Having problems with your 1996 Chevrolet G10 ?

I have a 1996 Express 5.0. I have to let the fuel pump quit running before starting, or it cranks a long time before it starts. Sitting at idle it runs great nice and smooth. As soon as I touch the accelerator peddle, it bogs down and stalls everytime. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem. last week I took it on a 600 mile trip, and never had any problems at all.

I would check the fuel pump relay. When you turn the key on, the fuel pump should be energized for a few seconds to pressurize the fuel system. If the relay is allowing the fuel pump to run longer, it maybe getting too much fuel, causing the need to crank for a long time. You might check the fuel pressure regulator and vacuum hose running to it also.
