Having problems with your 1996 Chevrolet K1500 ?
Setting the timing on 1996 chevy silverado Z71
\015 Had someone work on the distibutor and I'm assuming the put it a little off. How can i set the timing\015
Okay dude here it is. Sounds like you are off a tooth. the timing is controlled by the computer therefore a timing light will not work because it moves it all the time. what you have to do is move the distributor 1 tooth and if it wont start move it the other way. I had the same problem with my 96 K1500 after I replaced the intake gaskets. The dash should be flashing a code about multple misfires if its off the tooth. Good luck
Why do you think the timing is out? The only way to set it accurately is with a timing strobe light, do you have one?
