Mechanic says the computer in my truck has been erased? What can I do

It depends on what he was talking about. The trouble codes in the computer are routinely erased over time. This means any faults are no longer recorded for repair.

\015\012Now if the mechanic is talking about the entire memory of the computer, the HARD programming, now you do have a problem. There are rebuilt units for sale online. You can also pull one from a junkyard. Many of the Obama turnins have good parts.

\015\012You do have to match the numbers on the computer which relate to engine size and pollution systems for them to match those on your vehicle. The parts guys can usually tell you at the Dealership which numbers matter.

\015\012There are some computers which can be updated by the Dealer. I do not know if yours can, but it lost the programming once and may not hold the memory.
