Having problems with your 1996 GMC Suburban ?

No overdrive or 3rd gear

\015 I recently heard clunking coming from the rear-end of my 96 suburban. The rear-end finally let loose one day and pretty much exploded in the rear differential. I replaced the entire axle assembly to avoid having to rebuild the insides. After the job was complete Ii decided to take it for a test drive only to find that I have no Overdrive or 3rd gear. 1st and second work, though. I assume when the rear-end let loose it did damage to the transmission. Some mechanic friends of mine mentioned something about an overdrive module? on the tailend of the transmission, but I've never heard of such an animal. Is there some way to get my gears back without spending a boat load of money to rebuild the whole transmission?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 25-03-2019
