SAAB 9000 CSE 1996 - Coolant likage

\015 Hello, I have a SAAB 9000 CSE 1996. This weekend I noticed the a vapor coming out from the vent that is located between the hood and front windshiels. When I open the hood, I noticed a coolant linking right below the vent through what it looks like a drainage hoose. The heat gage seems fine, I never seen it even getting to middle. Radiator looks ok (4 years old). Check engine light has been on and off for long time. However I noticed this morning the check engine light blinking and became on (solid). Any idea what is going on? Thanks in advance.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-01-2019

Answers :

With the vapor coming out I would say you have a hole in one of the heater hoses which go into the firewall in the area you describe. Inspect the hoses looking for the vapor with the engine still hot.

It could also be a leak in the heater core. The vent the vapor came out of is the source for fresh air for the heater and a/c. You should be able to smell antifreeze with the heater on inside the car if the leak is there. Water may also drip on the passenger side floor from the heater core.
