Having problems with your 1996 Saturn SL ?

Wont start hot unless jumped, starter clicks

\015 96 saturn sl2. This is a very odd problem. If the car hasnt been used for 6 hours or more, it starts (usually). If the car has been turned on recently, the starter clicks rapidly and drains the electrical. The dashboard lights dim, the stereo resets the clock and preset stations, however the headlights/brights do not dim. If I only turn the car on for a half second and turn it off, I still get the issue so I do not think it is temperature related. If I jump it from another car, it starts right up. If it sits all night, it usually starts in the morning, or after Ive been at work all day.I just had a diagnostic on the battery, starter, and alternator at pepboys. They said the battery and alternator were just fine, it was the starter. It didnt make sense to me because it starts when jumped, however I took thier word and bought a new starter. Just installed it and the problem is not solved.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-09-2021
