Having problems with your 1996 Toyota Camry ?

Damaged transaxle my idiot ex hit a ditch while pulling out of the driveway, drove through it, but now its making noises while i drive down the road and ticking as i back up sounding like a u joint is going out

It certainly could be a damaged CV joint (that's what they are in this car
), and they do make ticking noises when worn.
The test is to drive slowly in tight circles while listening out the windows.
On the other hand it could also be a number of other causes:
- damaged wheel bearing- split suspension bushing- damaged ball joint
I have seen all these from hitting potholes etc. but I don't feel your transaxle would have been affected.
