I had a problem similar and the dealership in Germany said a common problem has to do with the pin wire connector on the starter. It gets hot, then the connector gets loose and shorts. After a time, the car will randomly start or not start (this was my problem). After several weeks at the sucky AAFES mechanics, I had it towed to the dealer who replaced the pin (about 80 euro) and it ran like a top. Try that first. It may save you a lot of $.
Sounds like a wiring problem, maybe a short, a ground, or ground wire needs to be cleaned and tightened down inside. Could have been mice ate bare spots in the wires if it sat so long.
