Having problems with your 1997 Buick Skylark ?

Trying to remove rear wheel cylinder from buick skylark 1997 do i need to remove axel to get the cylinder to come out ,removed it to the point where it is stuck between tire mount spindle and top bracket that keeps drum pads straight up and down ,there is a spacer like thing that holds the top springs secure that is where it is getting stuck, not enough room to get it out.

Answers :

You shouldn't have to pull the axle.
Do one side at a time so you always have a reference to go back to, even if it is a mirror of it.
Always do both cylinders though, or the other one will leak in a couple of weeks or so. They both do the same amount of work though so their time is gone.
Not familiar with your exact model, but maybe you can loosen the backing plate ( that the cylinders bolt onto ) and give yourself a bit of room.
You often do have to remove the shoes and handbrake lever to get them out easily.
Work safe and careful :)
