Having problems with your 1997 Chevrolet Blazer ?

The Blazer will not crank at various times. It is obvious that the battery is working as the lights, radio, etc. are on; however, the ignition will not turn over. After numerous attempts, it finally cranks. Any ideas?

Sounds like a worn-out starter to me. My idea would be to replace the starter motor.
Check your battery cables. Clean them with a wire brush both top and ESPECIALLY bottom. Everyone overlooks the bottoms and they're more exposed to grease & road grime. If they're corroded they build up resistance and make little or no contact. When you hit the key multiple times, they heat up, expand and make better contact. I'd start there, if after cleaning, problem exists, then it's early warning that starter & solenoid are going bad.
