Having problems with your 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier ?

97 cavalier won't start when wet

\015 My 97 cavalier manual 2.2 does not want to start if it's been raining. The engine turns over but then either won't start or it will take a handful of trys before it starts. I've only had this problem when it's been wet outside.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-10-2021

Answers :

That is your distributor cap. It either has a crack or isn't tight. The rubber seal could also be shot. Condensation from outside moisture builds up inside your cap while it sits. It wastes the spark on the water droplets instead of your contact points. Next time it happens, take the cap off and wipe it dry on the inside. Don't take the wires off. If your going to change it, label each wire starting at 1 mark. Hope this helps.
