Fuel gage isn;t working on malibu 97

\015 Fuel gage is not working properly on my 97 chevy malibu, the needle is below the pin some how that holds it up when car is not running. It stopped working after some electrical work was done on the back wiring to install a neon license plate frame\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 23-04-2018

I had this same problem after ignition work. An electrical burst caused the needle to shoot past the full indicatorand fall to the bottom I could see that the needle was trying to display properly, but the pin was stopping it from doing so. using a bent paper clip and the ignition to on I was able feed the clip past the odometer reset button and pull the needle over the pin. Backyard, but it works fine and didn't require pulling the whole instrument assembly off the vehicle!
You just have to make sure they didn't tie into the fuel sending unit wire to power up the neon lights. it should be a orange wire.
