Having problems with your 1997 Ford Explorer AWD ?

Truck heater is stuck ON

\015 Hot air is constantly blowing into the passenger compartment no matter what position the cold/hot air control dial is in. The cable less control head has three control dials: fan setting (working), cold/hot controller (not working), and system controller (working). The A/C works just fine, but the cold air just mixes with the hot air which produces a blended air of limited heat or cold. Note: I used to hear a door or baffle slam shut sometimes, but don't hear that any more. Also, I have manually opened the heater line bi-pass valve, but heat is still poring out of the vents. Could the bi-pass valve failed internally? Or is it temperature blend door not functioning or something else? Thanks in advance for your help, Rick\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-07-2018

Answers :

There is a blend door motor on top of the housing. If you open the glove box, and look to the top of the housing near the left rear of the glove box, you should see the blend door motor. You can check it at this point. Also check the housing, as I have seen a number of these with a damaged or broken housing.
