Having problems with your 1997 GMC Jimmy ?

My gas gauge has been stuck completely horizontal for awhile until lately. Now it flickers like crazy all over the place and i hear a little clicking behind the instrument panel when it does. It goes extra crazy when i hit my turn signal or power window. It seems like an electrical problem. Maybe its just a bad ground? 97' GMC JIMMY 4 -door. 4.3L. 160,000 miles.

Well, considering that the fuel gauge is an electrical device, I would say that is most definitely an "electrical problem". The challenge is to locate where the elecrical problem originates from.
\012A ground circuit is defiately a possibility. The instrument cluster shares a common ground with many different components. The main ground for the IPC is at the rear of the right cylinder head. This ground is shared with the window motor circuits. Also there is a splice that is shared is is S246 and is located in the main instrument panel wiring harness approximately 37cm to the right from the steering column breakout.
\012-Or you could just have a bad instrument cluster. The printed circuits have been known to deterriorate and lose contact with certain components, including the fuel gauge.
