Having problems with your 1997 Honda Accord ?
Cylinder #1 not working, I have spark and fule but no compression
\015 I have have a 1999 honda accord and cylinder #1 has no compression. I have changed the spark pugs and tested the wires and there are all good. I have spark and fuel but cylinder number one will not fire. I am not sure if I have a dirty/worn or broken ring! The car seems to run fine at higher speeds but idle's poorly. Is there a cleaning solution out there that I can use for that cylinder before I consider a more costly option?\015
If you have screwed in a compression tester and the cylinder is not producing any psi the next step is to determine if it is a faulty valve or the piston rings. remove the plug from the bad cylinder squirt three or four squirts from an oil can into the spark plug hole check compression before and after oil is introduced into the combustion chamber if the compression reading goes up 30 -50 psi your rings are bad if there is no change one of the valves is burn out and you need valve job
I have a 99 honda civic and im having the same kinda problem 2,3,4 cylinders are at 130psi but cylinder 1 is like at 90psi and what it does, is when i accelerate its bad and is very hestant to want to go, also im getting black particles shooting out the tailpipe the car has really high miliage.. so 2,3,4 was pushing 180psi... can anyone help me try to figure out what i need to do before getting robbed...thanks guys!
