To keep it simple: Your car should have used synthetic oil originally:

\015\012If you are using Regular Motor Oil - I found through many years of doing oil changes & auto repairs that 3000 miles is the MAX you should drive before changing. After that it tends to lose it's protective qualities & you can actually feel the difference (once you've removed a few thousand dipsticks) in the viscosity.

\015\012Synthetic Lubricant- Higher Quality Products will make your car last longer & I can suggest no better improvement to anyones vehicle than to use Synthetic Oil. Change at 6000-7500 miles depending on type driving. City, Idling a lot, hard driving = 6000 & Cruising/highway regular speeds=7500.

\015\012Always make sure your air filter is clean & a new Oil filter is installed each time as this will keep the new oil clean longer which provides better lubrication & performance. Some car Mfgs say to skip oil filter change & do every other but I like the results I have rec'd with changing it each time. It also helps to keep the new oil cleaner by not mixing in the dirty oil that is in the filter & associated piping.

\015\012If your car is running well, stick with the 5W30 that was recommended as Honda engines are extremely close tolerance. If it has used regular motor oil & is a little noisy, during the warmer weather you could step up to a 10w40 or even better a 15W50 in the summer, preferably Synthetic. Better fuel economy, acceleration & less wear & tear.

\015\012Finally: 140K should earn you a badge. That's just a well broken in Honda if it's been well maintained and you should expect much more service from it. I hope that this helps. Good luck!
