1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee cranks but won't start

\015 I have 200 K miles on the jeep and first time this has happened. Ran fine yesterday. Engine cranks fine but won't start. Had a problem a week ago where it took several attempts but it started.\015\012Battery is about a year old. Car usually starts immediately when it first cranks.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 29-06-2020

Same thing happened to me at about 140k. It was the fuel pump. Best way to test if your pump is failing and loosing pressure is to see if the car will start immediately after it has been running, or turn the key to the alt position for a few minutes before starting. If your engine fires faster after it has been running or the key has been in the alt position you will probably need a new fuel pump. Great news is with a very deep socket to get the tank straps off its a 30 minute job to replace the pump/filter assembly.
If the Motor is turning over like it should, you most likely have fuel pressure issues. Make sure you have fuel pressure before you check anything else. Fuel pumps rarely die when being used, they normally quit after being shut off. (be sure to check all your fuses)
