Having problems with your 1997 Mercedes-Benz C-Class ?

Hi, I bought a 1997 Mercedes C250TD 10 days ago and I have problems. When the engine is cold everything is fine. As it reaches full temp (about 60 degrees) it starts kangaroo style from the engine with the engine revs dropping from 2000 to 1500 rpm and bluish smoke coming from the exhaust. I put my foot down and as long as the engine is pulling it is ok but as soon as I ease my foot it starts hunting again. I now find that once the engine is up to temp I foot to the floor for about 20 secs

Hard start problems on this car are most often due to faulty glow plugs and or glow plug controllers and the engine temp sensor for the glow plug system, if u get allot of black smoke when it starts the glow's are not working correctly, each one will need to be tested with a ohm meter, then make sure the controller turns them on, many diesel techs think the glow plugs and controller should be replaced as a set, I agree based on experience over the last 20 years.
you are experiencing bluish or greyish smoke from the exhaust after decelerating from extended periods of highway driving, disable the supplementary injector system .

\015\012have a mechanic check your turbo.most will tell u that a turbo blows black smoke but can also blow white/bluish smoke when turbo is malfunctioning .
\015\012--------------------
\015\012bluish smoke in the exhaust, more so on a cold/or after getting hot start. That's steam. Water is getting into the combustion chamber. Most likely coolant.
\015\012Put your hand in the white /bluish smoke to capture the odor. (don't burn yourself)
\015\012What does your hand smell like? Coolant (anti-freeze & water) smells sweet.
\015\012Likeliest cause = head gasket. Possible = cracked head - depending on how hot it got. Less likely = cracked intake manifold.

\015\012and for ---------------------------- engine revs from 2000 to 1500 rpm Try changing the idle air motor which is just a fancy name for the solinoid by the TPS is easy to change, 2 torx screws hold it in
