Having problems with your 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva ?

My 1997 speedometer is intermitting. It will go from 10 to 50 up and down for 10 miles or so and then it will go back and forth from 40 to 50.For the past two weeks it was ok. Now it happens all over againg.

U need to pull and check the end of this sensor for metal, once again u don't have a speedometer cable, your speedometer is electronic and this sensor is what will cause the problem u are having, it is in the side of the transmission case. see photo

You need to check the cable where it attaches to the transmission. It is identified as the vehicle speed cable. If it's in properly and tight, then the speedometer itself is bad.
