Having problems with your 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora ?

I am changing the starter on a 97 aurora. I took the cover off to expose the starter and there is oil in the chamber all the way up to the bottom of the starter. Is this right?

Answers :

No oil should be in this starter, You have either a engine rear main seal or a transmission torque converter seal leaking, and this can caause premature starter failure... you will need to repair any leaks or you will repeat the issue...
No definitely not you probably have a bad rear main oil seal a very common problem on those cars
