Having problems with your 1998 Buick Century ?

Service engine light

\015 I have a 1998 buick century with a service engine light on.I have to get an emissions test done this month so I have to get this fixed.I stopped at an AutoZone so they could hook that thing that reads the computer and it came back with a list of 4 possibilites. 1.cam shaft positioning sensor 2. timing belt 3.spark plugs, coil etc.The print out mentioned something about bank 1(not sure what that is).The car seems to be running fine and I am trying to get this fixed as cheap as possible.I bought the sensor already and my friend is going to install it.Please help with any helpful hints on how to locate the problem.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 17-06-2019

From the GM Factory service Manual:
\015\012P0341 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance
\015\012The other thing about this code, is that it can be caused by a faulty ignition module, or the cam sensor magnet on the timing chain gear, behind the engine front cover that the sensor mounts to. These possibilities would
require a bit more involved diagnosis than just replacing the sensor related
to the code.
I have done a tech. bulletin search for this code, and come up with nothing.

Again, need to get harness checked, and if wiring OK, further diagnosis of
the ignition system.
