Having problems with your 1998 Chevrolet C1500 ?

I have a 1998 chevy P.U. with a 305,automatic I hade to change the intake gasket due to it leaking antifreeze I had a guy helping me and before i could mark the rotor and dis he removed it now im trying to get it back going the first time i tryed it had a real bad misfire so now i would like to no how to start from scratch and some pics please i read how to set dis but its not making any sence when i do it that way it points the rotor at #6 cyl insted of #1 is this right or did i screw some thin

What it means is to line the tab sticking out of the rotor with cyl 1sparkplug as straight as it can get a yard stick if you have to its got to point right at it and if it runs like **** flip it exactly 180 the other direction from where its positioned when you take off the cap hope this helps good luck
