Hi, Many vehicles use a turn signal switch that is separate from the\015\012multifunction switch. The steering wheel will have to be removed to\015\012gain access to the turn signal switch on these vehicles. The following\015\012procedure is a common method of turn signal switch replacement:\015\012\015\012 Place the fender covers on the fenders.\015\012 Disconnect the negative battery cable.\015\012 Remove the steering column trim.\015\012 Remove the horn pad from the steering wheel. Steering wheel attachment. Courtesy of General Motors Corporation, Service Technology Group.\015\012\015\012 Remove the steering wheel and horn collar.\015\012 Use a suitable puller to remove the steering wheel.\015\012 With a suitable compressor, compress the preload spring to the lock\015\012plate. Compress the spring only enough to remove the snap ring. To remove the snap ring, use the compressing tool to relieve the\015\012pressure against the snap ring. Courtesy of General Motors Corporation,\015\012Service Technology Group.\015\012\015\012 Use a pick and a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the snap ring.\015\012 Remove the lock plate, horn contact carrier, and spring.\015\012 Remove the bolts at the upper steering column support and the upper mounting bracket from the column.\015\012 Disconnect the turn signal wiring connector.\015\012 Wrap tape around the wire and connector.\015\012 Remove the hazard warning knob from the column.\015\012 Remove the switch retaining screws and remove the switch. Remove the turn signal switch from the column. Courtesy of Chrysler Corporation.\015\012\015\012 Replace the switch and reverse these procedures for reinstallation.\015\012On vehicles equipped with cornering lights, the turn signal switch\015\012has an additional set of contacts that operate the cornering light\015\012circuit only. The contacts can receive voltage from either the ignition\015\012switch or the headlight switch. If the ignition switch provides the\015\012power, the cornering lights will be activated any time the turn signals\015\012are used. If the contacts receive the voltage from the headlight\015\012switch, the cornering lights do not operate unless the headlight switch\015\012is in the PARK or HEADLIGHT position.\015\012The most common complaints attributable to the flasher are too fast\015\012or too slow of a flashing rate. If the flasher is of the wrong type and\015\012rating, the amount of time required to heat the coil will differ from\015\012what the manufacturer designed into the circuit. Also, newer flashers\015\012that use electronic circuits will flash at an increased speed if one of\015\012the turn signal bulbs is burned out or the circuit is defective. If the\015\012flasher is rated higher than required, the flashing rate is reduced\015\012because it takes longer for the current to heat the coil.\015\012Check the size and type of light bulbs in the circuit. Use only the\015\012lamp size recommended by the manufacturer. If these checks do not\015\012correct the problem, test the generator output. Higher or lower voltage\015\012output than specified may cause the flasher rate to be incorrect. If\015\012the charging system output is within specifications, check for\015\012excessive resistance in the turn signal circuit. Check both sides of\015\012the circuit.\015\012If none of the turn signals operate, check the fuse. Next, check the\015\012flasher. Remove the flasher from the fuse box. Connect a jumper wire\015\012across the fuse box terminals. If the turn signal lamp operates with\015\012the lever in either indicator position, the flasher is faulty. If the\015\012lights still do not illuminate, test the turn signal switch. Hope i helped you. Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
