Having problems with your 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan ?

Have a 98 dodge caravan that I'm trying to sell. buyer came by and test drove the vehicle, went to the bank, got the money, came back, and now it does not start. Checked the connections on the starter and they were tight, swapped the fuse and relay but still does not start. The relay does click but it won't turn over. tried to jump it and same thing. all lights, windows, and gauges appear to work. any suggestions? ty [email protected]

Answers :

1. Remove, inspect and clean the inside connections to the Battery.
\015\0122. Check the Voltage going to the Starter. Less than 11volts - may not engage the Starter Motor.
\015\0123. Short Jump the Starter Solenoid to the Starter Motor. Use a 12-inch insulated heavy gauge wire and connect one end of the wire to the large red connections (positive side) and the other end touch a metal section of the Main Motor Body. With a partner attempting to restart. Does it turn over now? If so the Starter Solenoid is bad (they go out with a snap of your fingers) and you should replace the Starter.
\015\0124. Check the voltage to/from, remove and replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor. If the Computer does not receive a signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor - it will stop starting operations - no start and no turn-over, as the computer does not know which position the engine is in. This should be located on the upper - back side of transmission right adjacent the engine block, and held into position by a 10mm bolt in the bracket holding the Sensor into place. You should remove the Battery and Battery Tray to gain easier access.
\015\0125. Next the Camshaft Position Sensor - same thing. This is located on the upper left side of the Timing Chain Cover. It is also held into position by a 10mm bolt.
\015\0126. Check the ASD (Automatic Shutdown) Relay. You can swap this out with another same size and shape Relay and re-attempt - restart.
\015\012Let me know if these solutions were attempted and if they worked.
\015\012I have additional solutions, but want to start with these.
What engine? Do the gauges work? Does it have an antitheft system?
