Having problems with your 1998 Ford Escort ?

I have a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 4cyl. I am having a problem with my car starting. Sometimes it will crank over OK, but other times I will just hear a click, as if it is not getting good contact. I have replaced the starter and I have checked the battery and terminals. I recently purchased a starter relay switch but I am having trouble finding the location of the starter relay switch to replace it. Could you give me any help finding the location of this switch or any other help solving this problem

Hi.my paretner had the same problem with her car.
\015\012We sorted the solution by disconecting the terminals on the battery.
\015\012on the negative terminal there should be two thick leads of which both go to the negative side of the battery.one of these is an earth.
\015\012The earth lead needs to be replaced by cutting it off and the best lead to use is the negative lead of a set of heavy duty leads and re-feed this to the negative side of the batterey and the other end to any part of the engine which has a bolt that is easy to undo and get to.
\015\012If you earth it here, then the vehicle will start every time and the clicking will be gone for good.
\015\012Its very difficult to explain and is time consuming, but ends the problem for good in the long run.
I have a 1998 ford escort had the same problems in the past, fix that alternator and then it went out again. It came to be the solenoid that mad the alternator go bad. Don't know if that will help but it's something to look into.
