Having problems with your 1998 Ford Explorer ?

A/C compressor on a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8 not engaging.

\015 I have a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8. With the a/c knob on, the compressor does not engage. I've checked the fuses and they're all good. Should I just replace the relay since I do not know how to check it? Would the improper amount of freon prevent the compressor from engaging?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 27-09-2021

Answers :

Low pressure in the system and the clutch will not engage. The low pressure sensor is on it for a reason.
Check refrigrant level i have found that if the pressure is low the compressor will not engage. usually means that you have a leak. if yopu regharge the system and after a day you lose cool air you probabnly have a really bad leak mech time
