Having problems with your 1998 Ford Explorer ?

My 98 explorer has no heat. It seems no matter where i set the temp control I am only getting cold air flow. I do not suspect the thermostst as the engine temp is always in the normal range. The haynes manual refers to a door that opens and closes depending on the position position of the temp selctor knob. Where is this door located and is it controled electrictly or by vacuum. the temp control only has wires on the back but I have no diagram to see how it controls the temperature.
