Having problems with your 1998 Ford Taurus ?

Broken Serpentine belt. Traced problem to air compressor. The pulley will not turn. Is this a seized compressor? Can I remove the compressor without removing the power steering. Is there a quick solution.

Answers :

Sometimes you can route the belt the same as one with no air. your parts dealer may have a belt route if yours is missing from the car. sometimes you need to put an idler where the compressor is. Don't run the car without the belt. Even if you put a used compressor on without charging the system, you need the belt for the water pump.
