Replacing the starter - 1998 GMC Jimmy

Answers :

Jack up the truck and support it so you have room under and clear access through the front right wheel well. the starter is at the back passenger side of the engin. there are 2 9/16 bolts that that hold it in place. remove them. jiggle the starter towards the front bumper. there is just enough space to pull it out between where it rests and the passenger side of the frame. now through the wheel well ( front passenger) you can with one hand access the power & ignition leads. it helps to have stubby wrenches and a 1/4 wratchet, cause the space is limited . and the nut sizes on the starter terminals can vary so i won't specify..

\015\012the new one goes in in reverse, it might help to have someone hold the starter while you reconnect the wires if you can't wedge it nicely. and if not for that, emotional support, which you will need the more you try to maintain your GM
