HELP - Speedometer in Mother's 1999 Accord Not Working

\015 Just replaced the starter in my elderly mother's car. That went easy\015\012enough albeit longer than expected due to bad new part needing to be\015\012taken back to be replaced. Car started fine, reset the alarm code, it\015\012ran fine during testing (but I didn't look at the speedometer then),\015\012mother drove it to church today and apparently now the\015\012speedometer doesn't work. It'll move up to below the 0mph mark at\015\012startup but won't move beyond that no matter what the speed.\015\012\015\012BUT.. (and here's where it gets puzzling). the odometer works fine, the\015\012trip meters work fine, the cruise control works fine, all the dash\015\012lights work, there are no check engine or error codes showing, the D3\015\012& D4 lights don't blink indicating a problem, the car shifts smoothly\015\012at a variety of speeds (auto trans) and so far (tho I haven't pulled\015\012all of them yet to eyeball each one of them) the majority of fuses are\015\012fine. It does not seem to fit a VSS problem from all I've researched.\015\012Other than the speedometer not moving, it has no indications that there\015\012are any problems at all.\015\012\015\012Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?? Many thanks to anyone that can help her safely get back out on the road!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 10-12-2018

Answers :

I replaced several guage clusters in my days as a honda dealer tech due to this same failure. They can get pricy and they also have to be coded to show your same odometer reading.
\015\012good luck!
I have exactly the same problem with my 1999 civic dx. any idea.. please TELL ! its getting frustrating
