Having problems with your 1998 Mercedes-Benz C-Class ?

C-180 Blowerfan has a mind of its own

\015 Heating fan does not turn itself on.\015\012After abt 15min driving and if switch is put on, blowerfan suddenly awakes. No probs with heat.\015\012Suspect either fan engine replacement or resistor replacemant or\015\012relay ? replacement.\015\012Appreciate any advice on this.\015\012Suspect repair must go in via front middle panel.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-07-2018

Since you have electricity, and therefore the resistor is functioning...
\015\012Take out the rights side facia under the dashboard. (loosen 3 screws)
\015\012Push the two white clips apart to opn the fan box.
\015\012Open the box and check for dust and other particles, vacuum, and clean out the engine,
\015\012oil w-40 it (axle) a bit, Open the filter box shich perhaps have never been
\015\012changes, and then tap the fan engine with a small screw driver
\015\012and voila if you are lucky it will come to a rude awakeing...

\015\012Often the contacts and the engine just needs overhaul, ie TLC....
