Having problems with your 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis ?

I have a 1998 mercury grand marquis and I am getting very little power accelerating. When I try to accelerate quickly I lose all power so I have to slowly accelerate and when I go up hills it will slowly cause me to decrease in speed and if I push on the gas too far it will not have any power going to the engine. I can not reach above 55 going uphill and the only time i can get above 70 is downhill. what could be wrong?

Ok you want to check your back pressure. This sounds like an exhaust blockage. I would bet ont eh Catilitic converter.

Sounds like you need to take your car to the mufflershop, and have the \015\012catalytic converter checked.the insides may be coming loose causing \015\012power loss, and rattle.

Also, you will can used the fuel system cleaners and switched to super/premium, unleaded \015\012fuel and the knocking was knocked out. Therefore, try those and keep at \015\012it until it stops or you may have to have you fuel system and engine \015\012cleaned out (expensive). Also, you may be at the beginning of \015\012transmission problems too (just a thought), you may want to have that \015\012checked too.
