Having problems with your 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante ?

1998Mitsubishi Diamante keeps stalling when you stop

\015 We have a 98 Diamante that we just replaced the alternater in. It ran fine for a week or two and has now started stalling/cutting off when you come to a stop. The only way to keep it going is to put it into neutral and keep the gas slightly depressed, then put it back into drive to go again. It will idle just fine when you turn it on and stay running until you stop, then it cuts off. This is our 16 year old daughters car and we are now afraid to let her drive it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-10-2018

Answers :

I have a 1997 Diamante has the same symptoms after the battery went flat. The automatic transmission serviceman said it was the computer controlling the transmission loosing it's program and had to re-train itself. He said there was a procedure for defaulting the computer but is was easier just to drive the car and it would fix itself.
My experience after owning the car for a number of years and several flat batteries is it fixes itself after about 1000 kilometers
