Having problems with your 1998 Saturn SL ?
Replaced starter now wont pass emmisions electronic brain has not reset put 900miles on it how long before brain resets? could a sensor cause the brain not to reset????
The car needs to be in the right conditions for the "brain" to run the emissions tests, the standard procedure is from a cold start, like after sitting overnight, turn all accessories off, air, radio, heat, etc.. let the car idle for 2-3 minutes, get to a highway and cruise at about 45-55 mph for 5 minutes then slow down to a stop and idle for 2 more minutes with the car in drive still, that should make the car complete the tests required to pass emissions, if that doesn't work i'd try disconnecting the battery and trying again the next day
