Having problems with your 1999 Buick Century ?
How do I replace the axel shaft? - 1999 Buick Century
In the picture above is just a diagram. As far as replacement, it's not the easiest of jobs and the fact that your asking on here, I just want you aware of it. I'm not telling you not to do it by any means. If you have or are able to get some special tools as well. Of course the basic hand tools wrenches, Socket set in metric and you will need some larger size sockets as well (Up to 22mm but will need one larger for the spindle nut but will explain). Hammer and the rest of your basics. You will also need a tie rod end seperator, I would suggest at least an electric impact for the axle nut and a axle nut set (they usually come in a 30, 32, 34 and 36 mm set). There is quite a bit of instructions as well as a few pictures. Really to much to post on here but if you are mechanical and have or can get the tools, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will be happy to make you up a PDF of instructions and don't know it all but have been a mechanic for over 25 years and I'll be happy to throw in some "tips" for things you may come across. There won't be a cost for the PDF but just wanted to make you aware of the difficulty as well as some special tools so you can make a decision. As far as a labor time an experianced mechanic with a lift and tools it should only take him about an hour to compete the job.
