Having problems with your 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ?

Front-left Outer CV Shaft Disconnected from inner-CV shaft

\015 My front-left outer CV Shaft was disconnected from the inner-CV shaft. For the time being, is it okay to drive if I remove the CV shaft and keep my 1989 K1500 Chevy Silverado in 2-wheel drive?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 22-04-2019

Answers :

If memory serves me right the axel is bolted to a plate on the front differenchel and a large nut on the end that goes thru the hub bearing, if you take the whole shaft out( both ends) i see no problem running it temporary without it.
Its always better to replace the shaft so not to get dirt or water in the front drive assembly , i wouldn't recommend leaving the shaft out, you take the risk of loosing fluid too not to mention contamination.

Hope this helped
