Having problems with your 1999 Chevrolet Suburban ?
I have a 1999 chevy suburban and my husband left it running while putting gas in it and I noticed the engine started to sound funny and when we went to drive off it wouldn't shift right and was really sluggish. Now everytime I start it and try to take off it shifts into the first two gears and then you can hear the engine winding out and it won't shift anymore until i kill it and try again.

Putting gas in while running is against the law, and unsafe, but thats not your problem. Get a repair shop to check it out. you may have trans issues or a cat converter ?
Pumping gas while the engine is running does have any thing to do with what you described. it only risk to have an explosion.
