Having problems with your 1999 Dodge Ram ?

Will replacing the steering damper on my 1999 dodge ram 4WD eliminate the front end shimmy?

Will help lessen the shake
but something else is causing the problem like a tierod end
I had the same problem in my 99 Ram 1500. The shake was so bad, it would rattle the teeth in your head. I replaced the tie rod ends and dampener. This did not fix the problem, Your ball joints have wallowed out the mounting fixers and you have play. Welding them will not help as a guy thought it would for my truck. When I got it out of the shop it did it again on the interstate almost wreaking me. It tore out the transmission and transfer case on the truck. the only fix than was to replace the entire front end, and replacing my transmission and transfer case. Check you ball joints and mounting fixers. If they are worn and wallowed out, you WILL have to replace the front axle and housing.
