Having problems with your 1999 Ford Taurus ?

My 2000 Ford Taurus doesn't seem to be getting fuel. It stutters at stops and today, I couldn't get the car to accelerate. I couldn't get it over 30, then it slowly started to regain speed.

Stop in to one of the major parts stores like Pep Boys, & Autozone, for free trouble code scan & see what you get & get back to us with codes if any. Makes it easier & cheaper in long run.
First locate and change the fuel filter. To do this the car must sit for at least a half hour in order to depressurize the fuel line. The fuel line on these cars is high pressure and should have 30 - 40 psi so wear safety glasses when disconnecting the fuel lines from the filter. I f the problem persists bring the car to Auto zone to check to see if any trouble codes have been stored you, don't want to go in and change a bunch of expensive sensors that are not needed. If you can aquire a fuel pressure tester this would help determine if you have the 30-40 psi present on the fuel rail, to test the pressure locate the fuel rail on the top of the engine, then look for the schrader valve it has protective cap on it unscrew it then screw on the tester and turn the ignition key on and observe the gauge reading if it is not at least 30 psi replace the fuel pump, unfortunatly in order to replace the pump the gas tank must be remove to access it.
