Having problems with your 1999 Isuzu Trooper ?

4JX1engine cut off and not starting

\015 I have isuzu1998 3.0 bighorn with4JX1 engine. it was running perect when i wanted to get it serviced. my mechanic changed fuel filter and oil filter( only the longer bigger one was changed). while putting fuel filter some air might havr remained in the system as he pumped the filter after changing the filter but brether on top of filter was not opened. I put 5lt of castrol tection engine oil 15 W 40 as i couldnot find 10w 30 oil. i had to top up the oil as it was little less to upper level but the shops were closed. the car started nicely except that it made noise of vaccume like opening a coke bottle when engine was switched off and it made noise every time we swithed off. i overlooked that noise as i thought may be i have never noticed as i have never switched off when the bonnet was open. There was no other problems.it was nicely starting and raving. i drove for 2o minutes and it was running fine with good pick up. it had shown engine oil light for some time then it went off. after some 15minutes of driving i saw warning light for check engine. since but i had to reach back to mechanic so i continued driving. it was running perfecly but after 5minutes the engine went off very silently. after all this it never started. they have tried to pump fuel, open return line and pumped to get rid of air lock, checked fuse all fine engine was cranking nicely but not starting. \015\012please advise as we in zambia and we lack proper backup.\015\012\015\012thanks\015\012\015\012Singh\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-05-2018

Answers :

Its the oil ! 15/40 is too thick it should be 5/30 or 10/30 fully synthetic .
