Having problems with your 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?
My 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo will not start. It will just keep turning over. What can I do to fix this problem. Is it he Fuel filter or is it the Fuel pump. Thanks for your help. :-)
You should be showing a check engine light. Rent a scanner, read the code(s) and follow the leads to repair. There are too many possibilities to just throw parts at the problem. It can be either ignition or fuel related. You could check for spark by placing a spare plug in one of the engine plug wires, grounding the base on the engine, and turn the engine over while someone watches for the spark in a regular pattern while the engine turns. That would eliminate most ignition concerns while leaving the fuel system. Put the plug wire back. Keep the battery charged up while checking things this way. Let the car rest for a while, then have someone listen at the fuel tank while the key is turned on. The pump should run for a short time to build pressure, then shut off. If it keeps running, the pump is at or near it's end point. If it doesn't run at all, check fuses and the fuel pump relay in the fuse box. If everything checks ok there, then the fuel pump may already be toast. Check for power at the fuel pump connector. Check for any resistance (ohms) between the tank and chassis metal--should read zero.
Check this first...find a hose that goes to the throttle body, like a vaccum hose...spray some carb cleaner in it . put hose back on it..start vehicle and see if it hits ..if it does it is fuel related, if not it is spark related...easy diagnostic...in cranking mode unsrew gas cap and listen for the fuel pump running while cranking...get someone to assist if possible...let me know...
