2000 Pontaic Montana

\015 Alright Ladies and Gents here it is.....\015\012\015\012I have a friend that has a 2000 P. Montana... The engine is overheating, however the water pump was just replaced yesterday as well as the therm-o\015\012\015\012The radiator cap and radiator is cool to the touch though....I told him just because the water pump was new does not mean it could'nt be defective....He says he has heat ( but no online capabilities obviously ).\015\012\015\012I looked at it yesterday and of course I asked about the intake gaskets ( all 3 of them) he replaced the 2 uppers and I know he replaced the lower last year I think as it blew a head gasket on the left bank....(towards the firewall)\015\012\015\012I noticed a brown slime in the coolant system which was probably Bars stop leak - He had forgotten he put it in there like 1.5 - 2 years ago..\015\012\015\012And lastly yesterday we took it for a ride after flushing the system and the water pump-therm-o replacement and it was fine then it overheated on hisd way home.....The bleeders have been taken care of..\015\012\015\012Any Takers???????\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-11-2019

I have a 2000 montana and mine was doing the same thing. I replaced intake manifold gaskets, thremostat, and water pump. Turns out it my heads were warped. I had them taken to a machine shop and it has seemed to fix my overheating problems.
I would say bad new thermostat before water pump but I would also bet the engine needs a good flushing out Flush the engine, change therostat and make sure fan is turning. You say radiator and caps are cool, so we know the water is not circulating. My bet is on a good flushing.
