Having problems with your 1999 Porsche Boxster ?

1999 Porsche Boxster - The diganostics call checking the mass air sensor by connecting the diagnostic device and driving the car in 3rd gear to 35 and then pressing the gass pedal to the floor to raise to 5000 rpm. The car will not raise to that level to test the sensor. All other test are in normal range. Is there and alternate way of testing or other suggestions as to what I should do. The car runs well as long as I don't try to floor it. The codes indicate it is running very lean.

Answers :

If you can check actual values whilst engine is idling, air mass should be around 18kg. The symptoms you mention indicate a maf sensor is at fault, these are prone to failing and can cost around £300 from porsche
